Tell Senators Feingold and Kohl To Oppose A National Hidden Handgun Law!
July 2009
Call Your U.S. Senators Today! Ask Them to Oppose S. 845.
Last month we told you about guns in National Parks. This month it’s guns everywhere…
Dangerous legislation is pending in the U.S. Senate.
States currently have the power and authority to determine their own carrying concealed weapons (CCW) policies, but, if passed, S. 845, the “Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2009,” would leave Illinois and Wisconsin as the only two states in the nation with any significant restrictions on carrying concealed guns.
S. 845 would gut the laws of the states that tightly regulate concealed carry laws by forcing them to honor concealed carry permits from the states that have lower standards and weaker regulations.
(For example, some states prohibit members of “subversive organizations,” such as the KKK, from getting CCW permits. S. 845 would effectively eliminate that prohibition.)
o S. 845 would enable people who were rejected for a concealed carry permit in their home state to get a non-resident concealed carry permit from another state with lax rules and then allow them to carry guns in both states, or any of the other 46 states.
o S. 845 would lower the standards for concealed carry permits to the lowest common denominator.
o S. 845 would require states that have more stringent requirements for concealed carry to honor the permits of people from states with very lax concealed carry permits rules.
Please call Senator Feingold and Senator Kohl today, and ask them to vote NO on S. 845, whether it is offered as a stand-alone bill or an amendment to another bill.
